Virat Kohli was born in 1988 in Delhi and joined a cricket academy at the age of nine. His talent was clear early on, and in 2008 he captained India to victory at the Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia.
Kohli made his debut for the senior Indian team the same year. He quickly became known for his consistency in chasing targets in one-day internationals and scored centuries against almost every major cricketing nation.
